After hitting the recruiting trail over the past several months, Jefferson Davis Community College head basketball coach Allen Gainer has seen some recent changes in his recruiting class.
With the loss of Williford to Division 1 Bethune Cookman, Gainer went to Mississippi and picked up a player.
The other signee for Gainer is not only a familiar face from the Brewton area, but also a familiar face to Gainer and JDCC.
Gainer said Jackson came by to visit him one day and they jokingly started talking about him playing for the Warhawks again.
Jackson started 28 games for JDCC and played in 29 games. He scored 210 points and had 102 assists during the 2007-2008 season.
Gainer, Jackson, and the Warhawks went 8-21 overall in the 2007-2008 season and were 5-11 in conference play.
Jackson ranked 12th in Division 1 that season in assists per game and was ranked 44th for steals per game.
Jackson have five 3-pointers in a game against Chattahoochee Valley for his season high and scored 18 points twice in the season for his career high in point against Mississippi Gulf Coast and Alabama Southern.
JDCC’s basketball Warhawks went 1-26 during the 2008-2009 season.
Along with Jackson, Gainer’s 2009 signing class includes: from Bainbridge, point guard Marquis Williams.
From Cairo, Gainer inked Kentrail Brown.
Jackson, Williams, and Brown will join returning Warhawks from last year’s team, Justin Burroughs, Deforest Taite, Logan Campbell, Antron Holt, and Daril Jackson, who sat out last season.
