Brewton’s 10-11s split

Brewton’s 10-11 Little League All Stars dropped their first game of the state tournament in Jackson Sunday before winning Monday night.
Brewton lost to Cottage Hill in the first game Sunday but defeated Phenix City Monday night.
Cottage Hill 5, Brewton 2
Brewton opened state tournament play on Sunday,  July 19, with a heartbreaking loss to Cottage Hill.
Cottage Hill held a 1-0 lead until Trippe Floyd led off the bottom of the second inning with a solo homerun. Cottage Hill’s defense held Brewton the remainder of the inning and it was not until the bottom of the seventh inning that Brewton’s Jonathon Lucas scored their final run in the loss. 
Jake Najor, Brooks Brown and Austin Holmes all added hits for the Brewton All Stars. 
Brewton 19 , Phenix City 5
In their second game in the state tournament, Brewton earned a crushing win over Phenix City, the District 4 champs. 
Brewton commanded a 19-5 win as Jared Cooper recorded the win on the mound.  Cooper also dominated at the plate going 3-for-5 with a homerun. 
Brown and Najor had stand up triples.  Floyd had two doubles and a single.  Cole Blackmon also had a good night at the plate with four singles.
Brewton held the lead from the start, but it wasn’t until the top of the sixth inning that the game busted open for Brewton. 
Ethan Tyree hit a single, allowing Grant Youngblood to come in as a courtesy runner.  Holmes and Lucas followed with base hits  and eventually scored when Ethan Bollenbacher laid down a picture perfect bunt allowing runners to move. 
Will Smith also had a winning night going 2-for-3 at the plate and also aided in securing the win on the mound.
Brewton was set to face Jackson, Tuesday at 8 p.m.
