Mrs. Mable Lee Byrd, 83, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, in a Niceville nursing facility after a brief illness. She was a native of Natchez, Ala., a former resident of Winona, Mo., and long time resident of Brewton before moving to Niceville. She was a member of Brewton First Baptist Church, Brewton Civic League, Brewton Garden Club, and a graduate of the University of West Florida. She had worked for  HRS and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son, Allen Byrd of Augusta, Ga.; a daughter, Claudia (Robert) McEachern of Niceville; a brother, Pete (Nell) Black of Monroeville; three sisters, Sara Winters of Beatrice, Martha (Charlie) Barns of Dallas, Texas, and Barbara Webb of Tuscaloosa; two grandchildren, Kathryn Lee McEachern of Melbourne, Fla., and Jamie (Matthew) Avery of Niceville; and one great-grandson, Deacon Joshua Avery.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, July 25, at 10:30 a.m. at Union Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
