Derek Roberts is the new face fans of W.S. Neal will see on the sidelines this season on Friday nights this season.
Not only will he be on the football sidelines, he will also be in the gym when the W.S. Neal Lady Eagle basketball team begins play.
Roberts has been named the new assistant coach for football and the girls basketball coach.
Roberts will be the third coach for the Lady Eagles in three seasons. Steve Lambert resigned and was replaced by Olivia Stephens last year.
Roberts coached at Monroe County High School last year and for the last three years before coming to W.S. Neal.
Roberts said he heard that W.S. Neal was looking for a head coach and talked with W.S. Neal principal Phillip Ellis about the job.
Roberts will  be responsible for the receivers on the football team.
W.S. Neal head coach Kevin Jordan said he is excited about Roberts.
