Mrs. Ruby Jean Riley, 61, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009. She was a native of Covington, Tenn., a former resident of Troy, Mo., and a resident of Brewtonfor the past 39 years. She attended nursing school in Kansas City, Mo. and later worked in health care. She was a member of First Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church. She worked as a certified nurse’s assistant at West Gate Village for 13 years before she retired. She was preceded in death by her parents, Holmes Harvey and Elester Campbell Harvey; a brother and her grandparents.
She is survived by her husband, Calvin O. Riley of Brewton; a daughter, Kimmy Denise Riley-Taylor; a son-in-law, Eddie Ray Taylor; two grandsons, Derrick DeAndre’ Locust-Riley and DeVante’ Rayshawn Taylor; a granddaughter, Diamond Jeanae’ Taylor; her siblings, Mae H. Collins (Jody) of St. Louis, Mo., James Henderson of Peoria, Ill., Katie Alford (Harold) of Flint, Mich., and Ricky James of Nevada, Mo. ; a god-daughter, Adrienne Bevins Henry of Huntsville; three very good friends, Dolly Watson, Gwendolyn Middleton and Ruby DeLawrence; five sisters-in-law, Annie M. Williams, Clara White, Barbara Lee (David), Minnie Riley and Sandra Riley; one brother-in-law, Charles Riley and a host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held August 11, at 11 a.m. at First St. Siloam Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie J. Blue officiating. Burial followed at Baptist Hill Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
