City officials are hoping several new park projects will be open for residents soon.
The skateboard ramps at Burnt Corn Creek Park should be open within a week or two, Mayor Ted Jennings said earlier this week. The skateboard park is one of several planned improvements at the park.
Scott Pate, golf course supervisor at Dogwood Hills, said a new feature at that park is also on its way to completion.
Steve Yuhasz, Brewton’s director of community development, said the hope is to have the skateboard finished in just a few days. 
Improvements are also coming along at City Park in downtown Brewton, said Joe Gordy, chairman of the city’s Tree and Beautification Board.
The foundations for the gazebo and the fountain have been built, as well as the foundation for the clock which will be placed at the corner of Belleville and Henderson. If all goes well, the clock should be in place soon, Gordy said.
The gazebo will be 32 feet across, with enough room for special events. The workers have laid a lot of brick and pavers making it easier to get around in the park. The gazebo even has a handicap ramp built in.
The foundation is angled in just the right way to allow people coming up or down Belleville to be able to see it well.
