Miss Constance Maria Powell, 37, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2009. She was a native and lifelong resident of Brewton. She attended the Brewton City School System and Jefferson Davis Community College. She was an active member of Greater Revelation  Missionary Baptist Church in Flomaton.
She is survived by her mother, Pamela Powell; a son, Jacorey Powell and his father, Gerald Thomas; three sisters, Valerie Powell, Taneshia Powell, both of Brewton and Melanie Powell (Shawn) Johnson of Marietta, Ga.; a brother, Larry Powell of Louisville, Ken.; four uncles, Willie (Louise) Powell of Sanra Ana, Calif., Randy (Shirley) Powell of Vallejo, Calif., Larry (Shirley) Powell of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Clayton Powell of Brewton; one aunt, Lois (Henry) Jackson of Cincinnati; five nephews, Deonte’ Powell, Larry Powell Jr., Malik Chenault, Jakyreon Powell, and Makai Johnson; four nieces, Saporcha Powell, Tykeriah Powell, Jayla Powell and Nia Powell; a god-mother, Glennie Culliver; an adopted mother, Gwendolyn Middleton; three special friends, Gayle Hudley, Cynthia Sanders and Susan Brand Jenkins; and a host of other friends and family.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 2 p.m. at Baptist Hill Church with the Rev. Sylvester Hawthorne officiating. Burial followed at Piney Grove Church Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
