April Watson, a senior arts education major at Troy University has been awarded the Brewton Council of the Arts scholarship for 2009.
Watson, an award winning artist is looking foward to teaching children art. She has served as treasurer for student art education at Troy.
She is a member of Alpha Delta Pi Social Sorority and Delta Epsilon Iota honors society. She is a graduate of Flomaton High School and a majorette with the Troy band for four years.
Funds for the Council scholarship are derived from individuals and families who purchase patron season tickets for the Arts Council slate of programs.
The scholarship is awarded to an Escambia County resident who is a rising sophomore or better who has declared a major in art.
