W.S. Neal volleyball splits with Flomaton; varsity falls to 1-1

W.S. Neal’s Lady Eagle varsity volleyball team suffered their first loss of the season Thursday night in Flomaton, but the JV Lady Eagles earned a win in their first game of the 2009 season.
Shelly said in the varsity game, her team’s serving hurt them.
W.S. Neal’s JV team defeated Flomaton 2-1. After losing game one 25-13, the Lady Eagles rallied and took the last two games, 25-19 and 17-15.
In varsity action, W.S. Neal lost 3-0 losing 25-20 in games one and two and 25-16 in game three.
For the JV Eagles, Stephanie Lambert had three blocks and six hits in the game and Gracee Dixon had five kills.
Lauren Boatwright had one block and five kills and Alia Fountain had one block and four kills in the win.
The Lady Eagles had eight aces in the game according to coach Shelly.
In the varsity games, Casey Wilson had four blocks and five hits, Amanda Crawford had two blocks and four hits, and Athena Davis had three blocks and four hits.
Whitney Douglas had 10 digs in the loss for the Lady Eagles.
In game one for the Lady Eagles, Amanda Crawford had six service points and Douglas had five.
In game two, Wilson had six service points and Malary Booker had five service points.
In game three, Wilson had four service points along with Booker, Crawford, and Douglas who all had three service points each.
In junior varsity action for the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles against Flomaton on Thursday, Paige Grantham, Stephanie Lambert, and Gracee Dixon all had three service points in game one for the Lady Eagles.
In game two, Dixon had nine service points along with Grantham’s five service points and Lauren Boatwright’s four service points.
In game three, Boatwright, Kaitlin Hadaway, and Fountain all had four service points for the Lady Eagles in the17-15 win.
