EBYF has pre-season bowl

Saturday Aug. 29, marked the beginning of the season for East Brewton Youth Football. WSN High School stadium was the site for the Tri-County West Divisions Pre-Season Bowl.
Included in this division are the Evergreen Aggies, Evergreen Jaguars, Georgiana Panthers, Greenville Tigers and East Brewton Eagles.
East Brewton teams showed up in a big way winning six of eight games and ending the other two with no-decision 0-0 scores.
EBYF’s Midget’s (5 and 6) started their season with double wins over the Evergreen Aggies and the Georgiana Panthers. Both games consisted of one quarter of play and ended with scores of 6-0. Brendan Jenkins (#5) ran 61 yards for the sole touchdown against the Aggies. Christian Madden (#12) led the team in rushing yards with a total of 76 that included a 60-yard touchdown run against Georgiana.
Quarterback Matthew Thomas led his Tiny Mites (7 and 8) to a victory over the Evergreen Aggies by a 14-0 score.
As half time began the Tiny Mites celebrated a six-point lead as a result of a 6-yard touchdown run by Jamal Duggans (#17). Isaac Bonam (#28) followed suit in the fourth quarter with a 16-yard touchdown run. Taylor Fountain (#18) also contributed to the win with a pass reception that yielded 49 yards. The Tiny Mites ended the day with a 0-0 no decision against Georgiana.
As the day progressed, the EBYF’s Termites (9  and 10) continued the winning streak. They came away with a big win against the Evergreen Aggies by a score of 24-0.
Quarterback Joseph Booker (#11) completed a pass to Tyshawn Davis (#22) that resulted in the first touchdown of the game. Subsequent touchdowns were run in by Christian Taylor (#3) and  Booker.
The three touchdowns were followed by two point conversions by Matt Hutchins (#5), Keith Barksdale (#1) and Joseph Booker (#11). The Termites second game of the day ended in a 14-0 victory over the Georgiana Panthers.
Keith Barksdale (#1) rushed for one touchdown and Matt Hutchins (#5) caught a pass that resulted in touchdown number two. Stephen Summerlin’s (#21) two point conversion wound up the Termites final game.
Quarterback Lane Chavers led the EBYF PeeWee’s (11 and 12) to their first victory over the Evergreen Aggies. Malcolm Hawthorne (#5) and Trey Taylor (#2) contributed in a great way to this win with a touchdown each.
Miles Powell (#16) completed a two-point conversion that made the final score 14-0.
After a bitter defensive battle the final game of the day against the Georgiana Panthers ended in a no-decision 0-0 score.
