JDCC volleyball falls to 1-2, drops first home game

In their first home game of the 2009 season Wednesday night, the Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk volleyball team dropped a 3-1 loss to Faulkner State.
The loss dropped JDCC to 1-2 overall with their second straight loss and to 1-2 in conference play.
JDCC lost game one 25-16 before evening the match at 1-1 with a 25-14 in game two.
In game three, JDCC fell late as Faulkner State rallied for a 25-23 win. In game four, JDCC lost 25-17 to end the match 3-1.
In the game Wednesday night in Brewton, Niki Davis led with nine kills and 23 total attacks.
Laney Barr had five service aces and Sydney Boutwell had 10 digs.
In game one, JDCC fell behind early 6-2 but tied the game at 6-6. The game stayed close until the 16-16 tie when Faulkner reeled off nine straight points to go ahead 25-16 and get the win.
In game two, JDCC jumped out to an 11-3 lead behind the serving of Kelsey Cook who had nine service points in the game and rolled to a 25-14 win.
In game three, JDCC led early 4-0 and 12-4 before Faulkner cut the lead to 14-8 and 14-10.
With the game tied at 21-21 and 23-23, Faulkner got the final two points of the game to claim the two-point win at 25-23.
In game four, Faulkner led 5-0 early before JDCC cut the lead to 14-9. That would be as close as the Lady Warhawks would get as they lost 25-17 and dropped the match 3-1.

JDCC 0
On Tuesday against Gadsden State, JDCC suffered their first loss of the season with a 3-0 loss. The loss dropped JDCC to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
JDCC lost game one 26-24, game two 25-15, and game three 25-9.
Antwinique Harris had three kills to lead the Lady Warhawks and Chelsey Slone had 14 attacks.
Kelsey Cook had three service aces and Sydney Boutwell had eight digs in the loss for JDCC.
JDCC will be back in action Sept. 7 at 2 p.m. against Northwest Shoals in a conference game.
