A Brewton man was sent to the hospital with injuries following a collision between his vehicle and an 18-wheeler.
Conner Scott Batson, 27, was injured when his 2003 Ford Explorer was struck by a 2008 Freightliner semi truck driven by Richard McEnheimer of Kettering, Ohio. McEnheimer was uninjured in the incident.
Batson was transported to D.W. McMillan Hospital by ambulance with what witnesses said were non-life threatening injuries.
McEnheimer said the incident happened quickly and he couldn’t avoid hitting Batson’s vehicle.
McEnheimer said the vehicle apparently made contact with the trailer of the truck after being stricken.
McEnheimer said he had been driving over the road for several years and this accident was his first.
Members of the Appleton Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene along with officers from the Escambia County Sheriffs Department. Alabama State Trooper Willie Locke is in charge of the investigation into the accident.
Batson’s condition was not made available as of Friday.
