Mr. John “Johnny” Howard, 54, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009. He was a native and long time resident of Brewton, and a resident of Atlanta, since 2006.
He was a long time employee of Alabama Ductile and employed with Cooper Lighting at the time of his death. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Izona and Lester Howard; and a brother, Kenneth Leon Howard.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Howard; three sons, Trevor Howard, Jayvon Howard and Rayvon Howard, all of Montgomery; three step-children, Antonio Gant of Brewton, Shandrinka Dexter of Atlanta, and Ronald Dexter of Brewton; five grandchildren, Meleaa Jace, Nadia Jalen and Derrick; five sisters, Mary W. (Christopher) Askew of Evergreen, Ruby Howard and Thelma (Marty) Long, both of Brewton, Irma Howard and Tammy (Shaw) Friday, both of Atlanta; two brothers, Lester Howard of Detroit, Mich., and Robert Howard of Atlanta; two aunts, Willie Fred Dees of Brewton, and Odell Dortch of Fairhope; four uncles, Shelly Howard of Brewton, Bishop W. C. (Forrestine) Howard and Earnest Howard, both of Atmore, and Ezekiel Walton of New York; a mother-in-law, Lillie Ruth Dexter of Brewton; a sister-in-law, Pansy (Enoch) Betts of Opelika; 10 nieces; 10 nephews; four special friends, Tony “Russo” Stanley, James Earl Hardy, Charlie Knight and Willie “Red” Autrey and a host of friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 12, at 2 p.m. at Second Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie J. Blue officiating. Burial followed at Greater Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Evergreen with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
