Lady Eagles fall in area opener

After a split with area opponent Jackson and Fruitdale on Thursday in Jackson, W.S. Neal’s Lady Eagle volleyball team is now 4-4.
W.S. Neal lost to Jackson 3-0 but defeated Fruitdale 2-1.
W.S. Neal lost to Jackson 25-13 in game one, 25-17 in game two and 25-13 in game three.
Against Fruitdale, W.S. Neal won game one 25-15 before losing in game two 25-16.
In game three, W.S. Neal won the deciding third game 15-7 to get the win and the split in the tri-match.
Game 1 vs. Jackson: 25-13
Malary Booker and Haley Lum both had three service points each in the 12-point loss.
Game 2: 25-17 Jackson
Whitney Douglas had four service points to lead the Lady Eagles in the game two loss for the Lady Eagles.
Game 3: 25-13 Jackson
In game three, Amanda Crawford and Casey Wilson had three service points.
The loss dropped W.S. Neal to 0-1 in the area standings.
Game 1 vs. Fruitdale: 25-15 Neal
In the first game against Fruitdale, Sydney Andrews had 12 service points with five of them being aces.
Game 2: 25-16 Fruitdale
In the game two loss for W.S. Neal, Malary Booker had four service points to lead W.S. Neal.
Game 3: 15-7 Neal
In game three against Fruitdale, Whitney Douglas had five service points in the win.
Other stats against Fruitdale included Athena Davis having four blocks and five kills and Amanda Crawford had two blocks and five kills.
W.S. Neal was set to take on Monroe County at home Tuesday and will travel to T.R. Miller  Thursday.
The middle schools will begin play at 4 p.m. in Brewton followed by the JV and varsity at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
The game will be a “pink” game for T.R. Miller with proceeds going to the T.R. Miller Relay for Life.
