Mr. Johnny Davis, 72, died Monday, Sept. 14, 2009. He was a native of Andalusia and a resident of Brewton for many years. He was a retired school teacher having taught at Baker High School, Southern Normal and Jefferson Davis Community College, serving 36 years. He was an active member of Baptist Hill Baptist Church serving in several areas for more than 30 years. He was a trustee chair of Claudia P. Harvey Scholarship Foundation, Missionary Society, and chair of Christian Board of Education. He was also the president of the Retired Teacher’s Association.  He was a graduate of Southern Normal High School, Stillman College and the University of South Alabama. He is preceded in death by his parents,  John and Nannie D. Davis.
He is survived by a brother, Robert Earl (Mattie) Davis Sr. of Mobile; three nephews, Christopher C. Davis and John F. (Veronica) Davis, both of Mobile, and Robert E. (Karen) Davis Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; two grand-nephews, Jarvis C. Davis and Jarrett E. Davis, both of Mobile; a niece, Pamela (Duane) Frazer of Plainfield, N.J.; a grand-niece, Brittany Frazer of Plainfield, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, Sept. 19, at 2 p.m. at Baptist Hill Missionary Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Baptist Hill Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
