Lady Eagles fall to Monroe County

After being down 2-1, the W.S. Neal Lady Eagle volleyball team rallied to force a fifth game before falling 15-13 and dropping their record to 4-5 Tuesday night at home with a loss to Monroe County.
W.S. Neal took game one 25-19 before falling in games two and three 25-9 and 25-20.
W.S. Neal took game four 25-11 before losing in the fifth game.
Game one: W.S. Neal 25, Monroe County 19
The game was close in game one until Amanda Crawford used four straight service points to put W.S. Neal up 18-14.
Brittany Revel ended the game with five straight points to lead the Lady Eagles in the game and to the win.
Crawford had four kills in the win.
Game two: Monroe County 25, W.S. Neal 9
Monroe County jumped out to an early 8-1 lead before W.S. Neal cut the lead to 10-6.
From there, Monroe County went on to hold a 21-7 lead and take the win by 16.
Malary Booker led W.S. Neal with two service points.
Game three: Monroe County 25, W.S. Neal 20
With the game close the whole time and tied at 19-19, Monroe County outscored W.S. Neal 6-1 to end the game with a 25-20 win and take a 2-1 lead in the match.
Sydney Andrews led W.S. Neal with five service points and one kill.
Game four: W.S. Neal 25, Monroe County 11
With their backs against the wall and needing a win to force a game five, W.S. Neal jumped out to a 9-1 and a 17-2 lead and rolled to a 25-11 win to tie the match at 2-2.
Crawford led W.S. Neal with seven service points and an ace.
Game five: Monroe County 15, W.S. Neal 13
W.S. Neal took an early 4-0 lead in the game before Monroe County rallied to take a 7-4 lead.
Monroe County held a 10-7 lead before the Lady Eagles cut the lead to 10-9.
Monroe County then led 14-11 before the Lady Eagles cut the lead to 14-13.
Monroe County then added the final point to win 3-2 and hand W.S. Neal a loss.
Andrews led W.S. Neal with five service points and two aces.
W.S. Neal JV 2, Monroe County 2
W.S. Neal’s JV volleyball team remained undefeated Tuesday at home as they defeated Monroe County 2-0.
The win improved the Lady Eagles to 4-0 this season.
W.S. Neal took game one 25-15 and game two 25-16 to get the win.
Alia Fountain led the Lady Eagles with four service points in the win and Kaitlin Hadaway followed with three.
Gracee Dixon, Paige Grantham, Stephanie Lambert, and Lauren Boatwright all had two each in the win with Dixon and Grantham both having one ace.
In game two, W.S. Neal trailed 9-3 before Fountain reeled off 11 straight service points including one ace to put the Lady Eagles up 15-9.
Monroe County cut the lead to 15-14 before Hadaway reeled off four points to put W.S. Neal up 20-14.
Dixon finished off the Lady Tigers of Monroe County to give W.S. Neal the 25-16 win.
Fountain led the Lady Eagles with 11 straight service points.
W.S. Neal lost to T.R. Miller on Thursday in Brewton to fall to 4-6 and the W.S. Neal JV team suffered their first loss of the season as they lost and fell to 4-1.

W.S. Neal will be back in action Monday, Sept. 21, when they will travel to take on the Northview Chiefs.
On Thursday, Sept. 24, W.S. Neal will be back in action at home as they will take on Flomaton.
Game time is set to begin at 4 p.m. with middle school action. Junior varsity games followed by varsity action is set to begin at 6 p.m.
