It has been five years since the early morning strike of Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and while most evidence of the destruction has been eliminated in those years, one industry is still working on its recovery.
About 90 to 95 percent of Cedar Creek’s managed land was affected by Ivan, Padgett said.
Five years is not long enough to have gotten back to the way things were before the storm. Padgett said much of the timber takes 40 to 50 years to grow to the size suitable for a pole or lumber.
But Padgett said help from T.R. Miller Mill allowed Cedar Creek to save much of its timber.
