Mr. John Henry Pate, 94, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at his residence. He was a native of Crenshaw County and a resident of Evergreen. He was a farmer by occupation and he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn Burt Pate.
He is survived by two sons, John Larry (Eva) Pate of Castleberry, and Jerry Jackson (Bobbie) Pate of Evergreen; four daughters, Joelene Pate (Gerald) Dean of Peterman, Judy Pate (Mack) Powe of Camden, Barbara Pate Holt of Wagarville and Nancy Pate (Ronnie) Davis of Evergreen; a brother, George (Bertie) Pate of Castleberry; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Cope Funeral Home in Evergreen. Burial will follow at Purnell Cemetery in Evergreen, with Cope Funeral Home directing.
