Students, faculty and alumni of W.S. Neal High School are in the midst of an action filled week as preparations for homecoming events continue.
Recently the student body elected members of the homecoming court and selected Briana Hawthorne as queen for the 2009 event.
Other members of the homecoming court include senior maids Brittany Pugh and Freida Folmar; junior maids Amanda Crawford and Angelique Askew; sophomore maids Sharnae Puryear and Lauren Boatwright; and freshmen maids Leslie McCreary and Stephanie Lambert.
Principal Phillip Ellis said several alumni classes will be honored during events at the school homecoming day.
The reception will end at 10 a.m. and will be followed with a special presentation in the school’s auditorium.
The homecoming parade will begin at the high school on Andrew Jackson Street at 1 p.m. All floats must be in place by 12:30 p.m. The parade will follow a route from the school to U.S. 29 to Forrest Avenue. The parade will continue on Forrest Avenue and make a pep rally stop at Magnolia Superfoods where the parade will then disband.
Activities will continue when gates at W.S. Neal High School’s football stadium open at 5:30 p.m. Homecoming pre-game ceremonies including the crowning of the queen will begin at 6:25 p.m. with game kickoff at 7 p.m.
