Ready for a family movie night in the park?
Members of last year’s Leadership Brewton class worked for several months to raise the funds for an outdoor movie theater
The theater system comes with a projector and sound system and is portable.
Class members raised $15,000 from businesses, organizations and individuals, with an anonymous donor making up the final $5,000 for the project, said class member Jason Daniel, who is public affairs manager for Georgia-Pacific.
Daniel said class members hope the movie system will be used for outdoor events for Brewton and East Brewton, such as a movie in the park night.
Daniel said the funds were turned over to the City of Brewton to purchase the movie system, with the expectation that the city will be able to rent or loan out the equipment for various events or groups.
Daniel said sponsors of the project include:
Class members included Daniel, Davis, Kevin Duffy, Kirk Garrett, Alecia Glaize, Mark Manning, Lisa Nordmeyer, Lisa Tindell, Molly Ruzic and Heather Walton.
This year’s Leadership Brewton class will hold its first meeting Tuesday.
