The Rev. Verna Lee Phillips, 89, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2009, in a Brooksville hospital. She was a native of Crenshaw County and had been a resident of Brewton for many years before moving to Brooksville three months ago. She was an ordained minister and had worked at Judy Bond. She was a member of the Assembly of God faith.
She is survived by one son, Phillip Ray Phillips of Bay Minette; two daughters, Phyllis Reynolds of Tupelo, Miss., and Fayette Miller of Brooksville; a sister, Ether Gilcrease of Atmore; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with Brother Michael Cosey officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery in Opp, with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.
