John Nunally McGowin Jr., 49, passed away Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at his Brewton residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Brewton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his mother, Philippa Hamilton of Brewton; his wife, Renee Chavers McGowin of Brewton; two sons, Derek McGowin of Montgomery, Gray Emmons of Evergreen; a daughter, Heather (Mauricio) Torres of Creola; three sisters, Marie McGowin of Montgomery, Jenny McGowin of Gulf Shores, and Peyton Bethea of Brewton; two step-sons, Jonathan Trousdale of Brewton and Christopher Baggett of Pensacola, Fla.; one step-daughter, Jamie Chavers of Brewton; his in-laws, Joe and Denise Chavers; best friends, Joe Lawrence of Brewton, and Barbara Pittman of Creola.
Graveside funeral services will be private with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.
