BMS football goes ‘perfect’

The Brewton Middle School football Tigers capped off a perfect season Thursday night in East Brewton as they defeated W.S. Neal 42-8.
The win finished the season for the Tigers with a 7-0 record and W.S. Neal finished at 2-3.
In the game, W.S. Neal fumbled the opening kickoff and Brewton recovered the ball to take over at the Eagle 24-yard line.
The Tigers needed only one play as Dominique Jackson raced 24 yards to give Brewton a 6-0 lead with 7:37 left in the first quarter.
After an Eagle punt, Brewton used five plays to set up a Kameron Coleman touchdown from four yards out to go up 14-0 with 2:37 left in the quarter after the successful conversion.
After the Tiger touchdown and Brewton leading 14-0 after the first quarter, W.S. Neal moved the ball to the Tiger 44-yard line. Jackson intercepted an Eagle pass and went 52 yards for the score to give Brewton a 20-0 lead with 6:54 left before the half.
W.S. Neal would later be forced to punt but Brandon Carmichael picked off a Tiger pass and went seven plays to the Tiger 2-yard line to set up a first-and-goal.
A false start for the Eagles pushed them back to the 6-yard line and were held on downs by Brewton as the Tigers led 20-0 at the half.
Corey Carter opened the second half with a bang as he ran the kickoff back 83 yards to put Brewton up 28-0 with 7:44 left in the third quarter.
After forcing a four-and-out for W.S. Neal, the Tigers marched to the 15-yard line and set up a 15-yard score from Keion Smith to Carter to put Brewton on top 36-0 with 1:09 left in the third quarter.
W.S. Neal then fumbled on their next possession and the Tigers need only five plays as Jones Manning passed to Trae Walker for an 18-yard touchdown to put Brewton up 42-0 with 4:30 left in the game.
Darius Benjamin gave W.S. Neal their lone score. He scored on a 57-yard touchdown with 1:40 left in the game, but it was not enough as Brewton won 42-8.
Brewton had 205 total yards with 151 on the ground and 11 first downs in the win. W.S. Neal logged 156 total yards and 146 on the ground with seven first downs.
Jackson finished with four carries for 51 yards and one touchdown and a kickoff return. Coleman had 68 yards on nine carries and a touchdown for Brewton.
Smith was 2-for-4 passing with one interception, one touchdown, and 36 yards and Manning was 1-for-1 with 18 yards passing and one touchdown for the Tigers.
For the Eagles, Benjamin led with four carries in the game for 80 yards and one touchdown.
Trevor Burns had one catch for 11 yards in the loss.

The Brewton Middle School seventh grade team defeated the Eagles in a ten minute running clock first quarter.
McHenry Coleman ran the first play from scrimmage for the Tigers 70 yards to pay dirt to give Brewton a 6-0 lead with 9:26 left in the game.
Jones Manning threw the two-point conversion pass to Kellyn Winn to give Brewton an 8-0 lead.
After the Tiger touchdown, W.S. Neal picked up one first down before turning the ball over at their own 45-yard line, but got the ball back after a Tiger fumble.
From there, the Eagles drove to the 38-yard line before turning the ball over own downs and Brewton earned the win.
