Mrs. Barbara Elizabeth Baggett Godwin, 81, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, in a local nursing facility. She was a native and life long resident of Castleberry. She was a member of London Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manford Godwin and a granddaughter, Ashton Blair.
She is survived by three sons, George (Ann) Godwin of Tuscaloosa, Tommy (Charlene) Godwin of Castleberry, and Dwayne (Marcia) Godwin of Winston Salem, N.C.; one daughter, Barbara Godwin (James) Blair of Castleberry; two sisters, Lavada (Woodrow) Creel of Pensacola, Fla. and Ruth Alexander of Springfield, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 2:30 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. John Finklea officiating. Burial will follow at Buffington Cemetery in Castleberry with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
