Brewton and East Brewton businesses are planning to welcome the Christmas season with a special day and evening of shopping and activities on Thursday, Nov. 19.
The evening will also feature the debut of the city’s new outdoor movie theater, bought with funds raised by last year’s Leadership Brewton class.
The Holiday Kickoff, organized by the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce, will feature various business open houses and sales geared toward the Christmas season.
Chamber officials said they hope the event encourages local residents to shop locally.
The Holiday Kickoff will take place at businesses throughout Brewton and East Brewton from 4 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 19.
The movie, a family-oriented holiday film, will be shown at 5:30 p.m. at Burnt Corn Creek Park. Families can bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the film, Hart said.
Businesses have organized a number of different activities for the day, including open houses and special sales.
Businesses that will have open houses from 4 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 19 include The Hourglass, Cracked Pot and Paris Market, Jacki & Co., Gulf Winds Federal Credit Union, Wendy Folmar of State Farm Insurance, Brewton Area YMCA and First Exchange Bank.
Most will have other activities and refreshments as well as drawings and special sales.
Any businesses interested in taking part in the Holiday Kickoff can call the chamber at 867-3224 or e-mail their events to Hart at mjones@brewtonchamber.com.
