The creation of a community choir three years ago has grown into an annual affair for singers throughout the area.
Three talented musicians with a passion for Christ and a love of fellowship got together and organized the first group.
Patti Neal of First Presbyterian Church, Schwann Bradley of Christ Kingdom Ministry Center and Jeff Brickhouse (now in Mobile, but formerly of First Baptist Church in Brewton) had a vision of bringing the community together to celebrate.
The group has invited choir members from the area churches to join them in singing a collection of praise and worship music. In addition they have been joined by a band made up of local talent from the churches and a few from the high school band.
Pig Daddy’s will have brunswick stew and George’s Barbecue will have barbecue sandwiches. Drinks will also be furnished. Neal said they will have plenty of children’s activities, including face painting and, hopefully, a bouncing blow-up.
The community will gather on Sunday, Nov. 15 for this Community Thanksgiving Celebration in the parking lot of Christ Kingdom Ministry Center.  The Center is located adjacent to Jalisco’s Restaurant on Douglas Avenue.
The event will get under way at 5 p.m. with food and fellowship and will be followed by the choir concert at 6 p.m. There is no charge for the evening, but there is a request that canned goods be donated to the local area food bank. A truck will be set up for donations.
