BMS boys now 2-0 with recent win

In a game against Ernest Ward Thursday night at home, the Brewton Middle School Tiger basketball team improved to 2-0 and the Lady Tigers fell to 0-2 on the season.
The Lady Tigers lost 21-18 while the Tigers won 28-20.
Both teams will be back in action on Monday at home against McCall. Game time is set for a 4:30 p.m. tip-off.
Ernest Ward 21,

Trailing 19-10 after an 8-0 run for the visitors with just under five minutes left to play in the game, the Brewton Middle School Lady Tigers outscored Ernest Ward 8-2 in the final minutes. The hard work was not enough. The Lady Tigers came up three points short in the final scoring.
Brewton trailed 6-4 after the first quarter and 11-6 at the half.
However, both teams scored four points each in the third quarter. Ernest Ward led the game 15-10 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Brewton held an 8-6 advantage, but could not overcome the visiting Eagles.
Nastarcia Drakeford led with eight points in the game for Brewton and Shakera Nicholson had four along with Kristen Booker.
Onesha Hall had two points in the loss.

After trailing 7-6 at the end of the first quarter and both teams scoring seven each in the fourth, Brewton outscored Ernest Ward 8-3 in the second quarter and 7-3 in the third quarter. The scoring would keep the team undefeated with a 28-20 win Thursday.
Brewton went behind 10-9 with 4:47 left in the second quarter only to go on a 10-0 run over the second and third quarters. The runs let them take a 19-10 lead with 3:33 left in the third quarter.
Brewton held a 21-13 lead at the end of the quarter and both teams scored seven each in the fourth to give Brewton an eight-point win.
Corey Carter led with 11 total points in the win and Shaun Tolbert had four.
Allen Boyd and Dominique Jackson had three points each in the game. Caden Lodge and Trae Walker had two each.
Chandler Brown finished with one in the win.
