Mrs. Mamie H. Longmire died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, after an extended illness. She was a native and resident of Brewton. She was an active member of First Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Longmire Sr., a World War I veteran; her son, Eddie Longmire Jr.; three brothers, Robert Lee Henderson, Emory Henderson and Calloway Henderson; and two sisters, Minnie Henderson Bridges and Clara Henderson Stallworth.
She is survived by a great-nephew and caregiver, the Rev. S. DeWayne (Geanine) Drakeford of Columbus, Ga.; two nieces, Katherine Drakeford of Plainfield, N.J., and Mamie E. Underwood of San Antonio, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. at First Saint Siloam Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie J. Blue officiating. Burial followed at Baptist Hill Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
