The campus of The Brewton Medical Center will be greener in the future thanks to the planting of a donated tree by Covenant Hospice officials.
Kyle Buck, community educator for the organization, said the tree is a representation of the roots of awareness the group hopes to see grow.
Buck was joined by Victor Hunt and Dean Vann, officials from the medical center, as well as other employees, for the ceremony.
J.J. Streit, also a community educator for Covenant Hospice, presented an award to Dixon’s Nursery representative, Sheila Dixon, in recognition of the donation of the tree.
Brewton Mayor Ted Jennings was on hand to read and present a proclamation declaring the national recognition of hospice services.
Covenant Hospice is dedicated to excellence in end-of-life care 24-hours a day. Staff members and volunteers work closely with physicians to offer comfort and pain management.  They also offer bereavement and family support to family members of hospice patients they serve.
