In their second game of the Flomaton Thanksgiving Tournament Monday night against the host Hurricanes, W.S. Neal dropped their second game in a row to fall to 3-2 with a 53-41 loss.
W.S. Neal defeated Flomaton Friday by 22 points, but after holding one Hurricane player to only three points in the earlier game, gave up 23 to him on Monday.
Also, W.S. Neal had only seven foul shots in the game, making three, as Flomaton attempted 34 and connected on 18.
W.S. Neal head coach Chuck Phillips said that was the difference in the game but declined comment after the loss.
In the game Monday, Flomaton outscored W.S. Neal 15-8 in the first quarter, but the Eagles rallied in the second quarter to hold a 15-11 advantage and cut the lead to 26-23.
In the third, Flomaton held a 9-6 advantage to extend their lead to 35-29 and outscored the Eagles 18-12 in the fourth quarter to get the 12-point win.
Bob Elliott led W.S. Neal with 14 points and Rashad Crook and Sam Ewing both had eight in the loss.
Tra Dixon added three points and Colby McCorvey, Monterrius Culliver, and T.J. Davis chipped in two points each.
A Flomaton player scored in the Eagles’ basket for the final two points for W.S. Neal in the loss.
Elliott got W.S. Neal on the board first in the game at the 6:53 mark as he connected with a 3-pointer to put the Eagles up 3-0.
From that point, Flomaton went on a 9-0 run to hold a 9-3 lead with 4:44 left in the quarter.
W.S. Neal would get as close as 11-4 in the quarter but trailed by seven heading into the second quarter.
In the second, W.S. Neal used a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 22-19 with 2:32 left before the half and cut the lead to 24-23 with 1:13 left to play. Two Hurricane free throws gave Flomaton a 26-23 lead with just under a minute to play.
W.S. Neal had its chance to cut the lead to one as four or five missed put backs on a rebound failed with Flomaton leading 26-23 at the half.
In the third quarter, Rashad Crook had all six Eagle points in the quarter, his last coming at the 4:01 mark in the quarter.
From that point, Flomaton outscored W.S. Neal 3-0 to claim a 35-29 lead heading into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth quarter, Flomaton shot 19 free throws and connected on 10 to get the win.
W.S. Neal was set to play Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. and will be back in action Monday at home against UMS-Wright.

W.S. Neal improved to 3-0 Friday night in Flomaton with a 65-43, 22-point win over the Hurricanes.
W.S. Neal led 27-17 at the half after a 15-10 advantage in the first quarter and a 12-7 advantage in the second quarter.
In the second half, W.S. Neal outscored Flomaton 18-12 in the third quarter to claim a 45-29 lead and held a 20-14 advantage in the fourth quarter to get the win.
Nine Eagles scored in the game with two in double figures.
Elliott led W.S. Neal with 15 points and Nicholson had 11.
Davis and Ewing both had seven points in the win and Jeremy Alexander and Dixon followed with six points each.
Ashton Elliott had five points and Crook and McCorvey had four.

Bayside shot nine 3-pointers Saturday in the first round of the Flomaton Thanksgiving Tournament to defeat W.S. Neal by three points, 47-44.
The loss was the first loss for the Eagles.
W.S. Neal fell behind 8-7 at the end of the first quarter, but tied the game at 19-19 at the half with a 12-11 advantage in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, Bayside held a 16-14 lead to take a 35-33 lead into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Bayside outscored the Eagles 12-11 to win by three points.
Elliott, Alexander, and Crook all had eight points in the win and Ewing had seven points.
Nicholson had six points and McCorvey had three.
Dixon and Davis had two points each in the win.
