The Alabama High School Athletic Association football playoffs are one week away from crowning their 2009 state champions.
There are only two teams left from the regions that our local teams played this season.
In 3A region one, No. 4 seed Luverne is still alive and will take on Cordova at home this week.
Luverne defeated T.R. Miller in round two this season by a score of 19-14 and took down Trinity Friday night.
Cordova defeated T.R. Miller last year in the semifinals.
Leeds, the defending class 3A state champion and the same team that T.R. Miller defeated in the Champions Challenge back in August, is still alive.
In 4A, defending state champion UMS-Wright and region one team, lost to Handley while Jackson is the lone team still alive.
