Mr. James McDonald Jossey, 86, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at his residence. He was a native of Conecuh County, and a resident of Castleberry. He was a World War II veteran and received a Purple Hart.
He is survived by his wife, Elva Jossey of Castleberry; a son, Jamie (Angela) Jossey of Pensacola, Fla.; four grandchildren, Alicia, Matthew, Josh and Ian Jossey; and one great-grandchild, Jonathon Jossey.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 27, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Castleberry. Burial followed at the church cemetery with Cope Funeral Home directing.
James Howard Petty
Goodway, Ala.
Mr. James Howard Petty, 76, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at a Mobile hospital. He was a native of Frisco City, and a resident of Goodway for the past 42 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of the Masonic Lodge 779 of Huxford, a retired correctional officer for Fountain Prison and attended Enon Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary Taylor Petty; a sister, Captola Barton; and a brother, Andrew Shelby Petty.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Peggy Petty of Goodway; three sons, Timmie (Regina) Petty and Mike (Lisa) Petty, both of Goodway, and Scotty Petty of Tensaw; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronnie Petty of Chrysler, Ala.; six sisters, Montez Carl, Eulene Brown, Kathleen Huie and Bobbie Jean Gibson, all of Mobile, Fannie Ruth Stokes of Monroeville, and Odie Jo Krause of Pensacola, Fla.; and numerous other relatives.
Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 28, at 11 a.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Brother C.L. Langford officiating. Burial will follow at Enon Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan Daniel, Hunter Petty, Seth Baggett, Steven Akins, Josh Presley, Preston Presley, Travis Waller and Brian Presley. Honorary pallbearers will be Wendell Middleton, Jerry Brown, Ralph Ott, John Dorriety, Ronnie Lehman and Clyde Helton.
