James “Jim” Everett Evans|East Brewton

Mr. James “Jim” Everett Evans, 78, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, in a local hospital after a brief illness. He was a native and long-time resident of Escambia County. He was of the Baptist faith, member of the Masonic Lodge, retired from the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service as a parachute rigger. He was the former owner of Jim’s Discount Tires.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Tanner Evans of East Brewton; two sons, the Rev. Jim L. (Brenda) Evans of Auburn and Bob. L. (Gelene) Evans of Iowa; two brothers, Bernard (Sybil) Evans of Riverview and Kirby (Barbareeta) Evans of Brewton; a sister, Annie Hullett of Jay, Fla.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. James L. Evans officiating. Burial followed at Fort Crawford Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
