TRM Lady Tigers take third place

In their final game at the Choctawhatchee High School Thanksgiving Tournament Wednesday night, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers improved to 2-1 and captured a third place win. The Lady Tigers improved their record with a 49-38 win over host Choctawhatchee High School.
T.R. Miller led 13-7 after the first quarter and 21-13 at the half after an 8-6 advantage in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, T.R. Miller outscored the Indians 17-13 to grab a 38-26 lead. The team held on for the 11-point win after being outscored 12-11 in the final quarter of play.
Senior Nakiya Smith posted her third straight game of scoring at least 20 points as she led the Lady Tigers with 21 points.
Smith also had six rebounds in the win.
Keydra Shedrone followed with 13 points and seven rebounds and Janel McCorvey had six points and five rebounds. McCorvey also had three steals in the win.
Leah Brundidge followed with five points, four steal, and seven assists.
Courtney Jones and Shaniqua Kiser chipped in two points each.
Kiser had three rebounds and Jones had one.
T.R. Miller will take on Escambia County High School at home Friday night for their first home game of the season after three tournament games to start their season off.
The B-team and varsity Tigers will play in their first games of the season Friday night.
The B-team game will get things started with a 4:30 p.m. tip off. That game will be followed by the girls at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m.
