Home domination|Lady Tigers get first home game win

A 14-0 run to end the first quarter, a 10-0 run to end the second quarter, and an 11-0 run to end the third quarter: that is the recipe the T.R. Miller Lady Tiger used Friday night at home to defeat Escambia County 52-24.
The win in the first home game of the 2009-2010 season improved the No. 8-ranked in class 3A Lady Tigers to 3-1 this season.
T.R. Miller’s Lady Tigers led 16-4 at the end of the first quarter and after a 12-2 scoring advantage in the second quarter, led 28-6 at the halftime break.
In the third quarter, T.R. Miller outscored Escambia County 16-8 to lead 44-14 at the end of the third quarter before being outscored 10-8 in the fourth quarter to win by 28 points.
T.R. Miller Lady Tiger head coach Ron Jackson said it is always good to win.
Jackson said that he knows his team is going to be improving each ball game.
While Jackson’s team by 28 points in their home opener Friday night, there was one thing he noticed in the game that he was not particularly pleased with his team about in the win.
Keydra Shedrone led the Lady Tigers with 17 points and Nakiya Smith had 14 in the win.
Courtney Jones had six points and McCorvey added five points.
Leah Brundidge and Shaniqua Kiser both had five points and Hillary Boyd had two points for the Lady Tigers.
T.R. Miller shot 15-of-21 from the free throw line in the win.
T.R. Miller was set to take on Andalusia at home on Tuesday before traveling to East Brewton on Friday to take on the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles.
Following the road game at W.S. Neal on Friday, the Lady Tigers will take on Hillcrest at home on Monday, Dec. 14.
Beginning the Friday of next week, December 18, the Lady Tigers, along with the varsity Tigers, and other Escambia County teams will take part in the Escambia County basketball tournament to be held at Flomaton High School.
The Lady Tigers will begin play on Friday at 3:30 p.m. as they start the tournament against the Lady Blue Devils of Escambia County again.
The Lady Tigers of T.R. Miller have won seven of the previous eight Escambia County Tournament championships.
The lone non-championship tournament year for the Lady Tigers came in the 2006 tournament at home when they lost to the Escambia County Lady Blue Devils.
