Eagle teams sweep Northview

In a Tuesday night home game, all three W.S. Neal High School basketball teams captured wins against Northview.
W.S. Neal’s B-team improved their record to 3-4 with a 35-29 win. The Lady Eagles won 34-18 to improve to 5-2.
The W.S. Neal varsity Eagles won 63-40 to get another win and improve to 7-3 this season.
All teams were set to take on T.R. Miller Friday night at home and will be back in action on the road Monday when they travel to Red Level.
W.S. Neal B-team 35, Northview 29
The B-team Eagles picked up their third win of the season with a 35-29 win over the Chiefs of Northview.
W.S. Neal grabbed a 7-2 lead after the first quarter but only led by two at halftime, 13-11, after being outscored 9-6 in the second quarter.
The game remained close in the third quarter as the Eagles led 10-9. They held a 23-20 lead heading into the fourth quarter of play.
In the fourth, the Eagles outscored Northview 12-9 to win by six points.
Jaquan Tucker led with nine points and Jalen Harrod added eight points in the win.
Dalton Evans had seven points and Donovan Millican chipped in six points.
Jaleel Elliott had four points and Josiah Nettles had one point.
W.S. Neal Lady Eagles 34, Northview 18
W.S. Neal Lady Eagle head coach Derek Roberts said his team had a great shooting night Tuesday at home against Northview. The Eagles improved to 5-2 on the season with a 34-18 win.
W.S. Neal jumped out to an 11-0 lead after the first quarter and led 14-6 at the halftime break.
In the third quarter, W.S. Neal outscored Northview 7-3 to take a 21-9 lead before outscoring the Lady Chiefs 13-9 in the fourth quarter. Their efforts earned them the 16-point win.
Keyvonnia Kyles finished with 24 points and six 3-pointers led the Lady Eagles and Freida Folmar, who is not shooting the ball well at this time according to Roberts, finished with four points. Briana Hawthorne also finished with four points and had seven rebounds.
W.S. Neal was set to take on T.R. Miller Friday night at home and will be back in action on Monday at Red Level.
W.S. Neal 63,
Northview 40
Bob Elliott scored 22 points to lead W.S. Neal in a 63-40 win over Northview to improve to 7-3 this season.
W.S. Neal led 12-3 after the first quarter but had their lead cut to one in the second quarter as Northview outscored the Eagles 13-12 to make it a 24-16 game at the half.
In the third quarter, W.S. Neal outscored the Chiefs 17-13 to claim a 41-29 lead and then outscored Northview 22-11 in the fourth quarter to win by 23 points.
Following Elliott, Jeremy Nicholson had eight points and Sam Ewing added seven.
Rashad Crook and Colby McCorvey added six points. Tra Dixon and T.J. Davis and Monterrius Culliver both had three.
Ashton Elliott chipped in two points in the win for the Eagles.
W.S. Neal shot 8-for-16 from the free throw line in the win.
Beginning Friday, Dec. 18, the W.S. Neal Eagles and Lady Eagles, along with the other Escambia County teams, will take part in the Escambia County basketball tournament to be held at Flomaton High School.
The Lady Eagles will begin play Friday at 6 p.m. as they start the tournament against the Lady Hurricanes of Flomaton.
The varsity Eagles of W.S. Neal High School will play Flomaton at 7:15 Friday  night in their first game in the tournament.
