Brewton Police said they were surprised by what they found in a vehicle search after a traffic stop.
Bryan Davis, Narcotics Unit supervisor for the Brewton Police Department, said two Brewton residents were arrested following a traffic stop last Friday.
Arrested were Timothy Boggs Jr., 26, and Tawanda Harris, 31. Both were arrested and charged with a variety of drug charges, including trafficking morphine.
Davis said the routine traffic stop was followed by a search of the vehicle, which turned up the illegal drugs.
Harris was a passenger in the car being driven by Boggs, Davis said.
Officers recovered liquid morphine along with Lortab and Oxycontin during their search of the vehicle, Davis said.
Davis said the large amount of morphine caused charges of trafficking to be brought against the occupants of the vehicle.
As a result of the search, Harris and Boggs were also charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance — morphine and unlawful possession of a controlled substance — Oxycontin.  Boggs was additionally charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance — Lortab.
Davis said officers who worked the arrest performed their job well.
The two were transported to the Escambia County Detention Center and were being held on $1.5 million bond each.
