Escambia County tourney begins Friday

The 2009 Escambia County basketball tournament will begin Friday in Flomaton.
The tournament will be played on Friday, Saturday, and Monday, with game times set to begin at 3:30 p.m., 4:45 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7:15 p.m. each day.
Last season, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers took the girls championship and the Escambia County Blue Devils took the boys championship in the tournament that was played in Atmore.
Beginning Friday, Dec. 18, the Lady Tigers of T.R. Miller will start the tournament off as they begin play on Friday at 3:30 p.m. against the Lady Blue Devils of Escambia County.
The Lady Tigers of T.R. Miller have won seven of the previous eight Escambia County Tournament championships.
The lone non-championship tournament year for the Lady Tigers came in the 2006 tournament at home when they lost to the Escambia County Lady Blue Devils.
At 4:45 p.m., T.R. Miller’s boys will play Escambia County.
Following the T.R. Miller and Escambia County boys game, W.S. Neal and Flomaton will square off against each other with the girls beginning at 6 p.m. and the boys playing the final game of the night at 7:15 p.m.
On Saturday, W.S. Neal and T.R. Miller will start things off with the girls playing the 3:30 p.m. and the boys hitting the floor at 4:45 p.m.
Flomaton and Escambia County will play the night games with the girls playing at 6 p.m. followed by the boys at 7:15 p.m.
After a break from tournament play on Sunday, the tournament will resume on Monday, Dec. 21, with W.S. Neal and Escambia County’s girls playing first at 3:30 p.m. and the boys team squaring off at 4:45 p.m.
Flomaton and T.R. Miller will end the tournament with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys playing at 7:15 p.m.
