Run helps TRM

A 22-6 run in the third quarter that saw the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers have an 11-0 run and a 9-0 run in the quarter paved the way to a 50-29 win over W.S. Neal Friday night in East Brewton.
The win for the Lady Tigers improved them to 5-1 this season with their fourth straight win while W.S. Neal fell to 5-3.
T.R. Miller led 12-6 after the first quarter of play, but had only an 18-14 lead at the half after W.S. Neal outscored them 8-6 in the second quarter.
The third quarter saw they Lady Tigers outscore W.S. Neal by 16 to take a 40-20 lead into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, T.R. Miller outscored W.S. Neal 10-9 to get the win.
W.S. Neal head coach Derek Roberts said his team surprised him early in the game against the defending class 3A state champions.
T.R. Miller opened the game on a 6-0 run but lead by six at the end of the first quarter.
W.S. Neal cut the lead to 12-8 to start the second quarter, but T.R. Miller took a 16-8 lead with 6:10 left in the half and led by four at the end of the quarter.
T.R. Miller started the third quarter out with three straight 3-pointers, one by Leah Brundidge and two by Nakiya Smith to take a 27-14 lead with 6:08 left in the quarter and never looked back to get the win by 21 points.
Smith led the Lady Tigers with 25 points and Keydra Shedrone followed with 11 points.
Courtney Jones chipped in eight points and Leah Brundidge had six points.
For the Lady Eagles of W.S. Neal, Freida Folmar had 10 points and Briana Hawthorne had six.
LaTeesha Day and Angelique Askew both had four points and another player (No. 45, name unknown) had three points. Megan Andrews had two points in the loss for the Lady Eagles.
