Mr. Arthur Geoffery Maylan, 79, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, in a Tallahassee hospital after a brief illness. He was a native of Mansfield, England, and had lived in Tallahassee since 1960. He was a design engineer with the Florida Department of Transportation and with E.C. Driver and Associates. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, a past member of the American Concrete Institute, a member of the Robert Butler Masonic Lodge 305, a member of the Tallahassee Little Theater group, a member of Killearn Country Club, a past member of the Gulf Winds Track Club, a communicant of St. Peters Anglican Chruch and a member of First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Irene Maylan of Tallahassee; a daughter, Christine Maylan (Dale) Freeman of Savannah, Ga.; two grandchildren, Kennedy Jewell and Cole; his twin brother, Raymond (Beryl) Maylan of Kettering, England.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 17, at First Baptist Church in Tallahassee, with Dr. J. Douglas Dortch and Father Eric Dudley officiating. Burial will be Monday, Dec. 21, at 1:30 p.m. at Union Cemetery in Brewton.
