East Brewton Police were busy chasing vandals Saturday after a report of damage at W.S. Neal elementary and middle schools on Williamson Street.
East Brewton Police Chief Kenny Brazile said three juveniles, who are Brewton City School students, were responsible for extensive damage at both Escambia County School System schools.
Brazile said some of the damage involved obscenities being scrawled across chalkboards and walls at W.S. Neal Middle School.
Brazile said the juveniles gained access to both schools through windows.
Brazile said since school had been dismissed for Christmas holidays, no teachers were available to determine what items may have been taken from the classrooms.
Brazile said two of the juveniles are 13 and one is 12. Juvenile authorities will pursue the case on behalf of the East Brewton Police Department.
Brazile said maintenance workers at the schools discovered some minor vandalism and made the 911 call.
Brazile said officers responded to the call in a matter of minutes.
Brazile said he joined the chase at that point and was able to cut the boys off before they could make a getaway.
Brazile said after the boys confessed to the vandalism their parents were called.
