Tigers fall in tourney

In a “much-improved” game for the T.R. Miller Tiger varsity basketball team Monday night at the Clarke County Holiday Classic, the Tigers fell to 0-7 with a 64-43 to the Moss Point, Mississippi Tigers.
T.R. Miller trailed 15-9 after one quarter of play and cut the lead to five at halftime with a 16-15 advantage in the second quarter to trail 30-25 at the half.
In the third quarter, Moss Point outscored the Tigers of Brewton 15-12 to extend their lead to eight points heading into the fourth quarter at 45-37.
In the fourth quarter, Moss Point opened the quarter on a 7-0 run to hold a 52-37 lead at the 6:28 mark. The team outscored T.R. Miller 19-6 in the quarter to take the 21-point, 64-43 win.
Keenan Pride led T.R. Miller in the loss with 15 points and Derrick Riley followed closely with 12 points.
Wes Dickey chipped in five points and Kori Jackson added four.
Antonio Payne added three points and Walter Smith and Darrion Salter both had two points each.
T.R. Miller was 11-for-23 from the free throw line in the game while Moss Point was 9-for-25.
T.R. Miller trailed by as much as 11 points in the first half. They cut the lead to five points and were as close as four points at the 1:54 mark in the second quarter.
T.R. Miller was set to take on Clarke County Tuesday in the tournament and will play Marengo today at 6 p.m.
