In their final two games of the Clarke County Holiday Classic Tuesday and Wednesday, the T.R. Miller Tigers lost to Clarke County and Marengo.
T.R. Miller lost to Clarke County Tuesday night 81-48 to fall to 0-8 and lost to Marengo 69-64 Wednesday to fall to 0-9.
The Tigers were set to be back in action today at home against Choctaw County in an area game.
Game time is set to begin at 1 p.m. with the B-teams playing each other followed by the Lady Tigers and then the varsity team will take the floor as the last game of the day.
Following Saturday’s game, the Tigers will be back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 5, at home against Bayside Academy in another area game.
Game time for that game is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. in Brewton.
Clarke County 81,
T.R. Miller 48
Playing against the host team, the Clarke County Bulldogs, the Tigers were outscored 20-4 in the fourth quarter to lose 81-48.
T.R. Miller fell behind 17-8 after the first quarter of play and trailed 38-24 at the half following a 21-16 advantage in favor of the Bulldogs.
In the third quarter, T.R. Miller was outscored 23-20 to fall behind 61-44 heading into the fourth quarter before being outscored by 16 points in the final stanza to lose by 33.
Derrick Riley led the Tigers with 21 points and Keenan Pride followed with 16 points in the loss.
Marengo 69,
T.R. Miller 64
In the final game of the tournament on Wednesday, the Tigers were paired up against Marengo and almost pulled out their first win of the season only to fall 69-64 and drop to 0-9 this season.
The Tigers led 19-14 after the first quarter and after both teams poured in 20 points in the second quarter, led 39-34 at the halftime break.
In the third quarter, the Tigers were outscored 26-7 to fall behind 60-47 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, T.R. Miller outscored Marengo 18-9 to cut into the lead but it was not enough as they lost by five points.
Riley led with 22 points and Pride added 20 in the loss for the Tigers. Antonio Payne had 10 points to add for the Tigers.
