Tiger teams split with BA

In a Tuesday night home game against the Bayside Academy Admirals, T.R. Miller’s B-team and Lady Tiger basketball teams came away with wins while the varsity Tigers lost.
The B-team Tigers defeated Bayside 34-27 for their second win of the season to improve to 2-3 overall this season.
In girls action, the Lady Tigers won 47-26 to improve to 12-2 overall and to 2-0 in area play.
In varsity boys action, T.R. Miller dropped to 0-11 overall and to 0-2 in the area standings with a 66-24 loss.
T.R. Miller was set to travel to Cottage Hill Friday for another area contest with the Warriors.
On Tuesday, T.R. Miller will take on rival W.S. Neal with a home game set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
T.R. Miller will travel to take on Bayside Academy again Friday, Jan. 15.
T.R. Miller B-team 34, Bayside 27
The T.R. Miller Tiger B-team, trailing by one point at the time, outscored Bayside 11-1 in the third quarter to propel them to a 34-27, seven-point win over Bayside Tuesday night at home.
T.R. Miller led 6-4 after the first quarter of play before being outscored 7-4 in the second quarter to trail 11-10 at the halftime break.
After the halftime break, the Tigers of Brewton came out firing on all cylinders as they held Bayside to one point in the quarter. The Tigers scored 11 points to take a 21-12 lead heading into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth quarter, Bayside cut into the Tiger lead by two points after a 15-13 advantage in the quarter, but it was not enough as T.R. Miller was able to hang on for the win.
Randy Davis led T.R. Miller in the win with 12 points and Darrion Salter followed closely behind with 11 points.
Dayvon Samuel chipped in five points for T.R. Miller in the win.
T.R. Miller Lady Tigers 47, Bayside 26
The Lady Tigers of T.R. Miller picked up their second straight area win Tuesday night over Bayside to improve to 2-0 in area play with a 47-26 win.
T.R. Miller used a 13-2 first quarter to take control of the game early and then used a 10-8 second quarter to claim a 23-10 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, both teams matched their scoring from the second quarter with a 10-8 Lady Tiger advantage to extend their lead to 33-18 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, the Lady Tigers held Bayside to their third straight quarter of eight points scored while scoring 14 to outscore the Admirals by six points in the quarter to win by 21 points.
Nakiya Smith led T.R. Miller in scoring with 15 points and Leah Brundidge added 12 points in the win.
Courtney Jones was the third Lady Tiger in double figures Tuesday as she added 10 points to the mix and Keydra Shedrone added six points in the win.
Brittany Rush and LaTeysia Montgomery both had two points for the Lady Tigers.
Bayside 66,
T.R. Miller Tigers 24
In varsity action Tuesday night at home between the T.R. Miller Tigers and the Bayside Academy Admirals, Bayside outscored T.R. Miller by 42 points to claim a 66-24 win over the Tigers.
The loss kept T.R. Miller winless overall this season as they fell to 0-11 and dropped them to 0-2 in area play.
Terez Lane had nine points for T.R. Miller in the loss and Derrick Riley had eight points.
In the game Tuesday, Bayside jumped out early and often on the Tigers with a 16-3 first quarter. They then held a 27-8 lead after the half following an 11-5 second quarter in favor of the Admirals.
In the third quarter, Bayside Academy was able to extend their lead by eight points after a 20-12 advantage in the quarter to hold a 47-20 lead after three quarters of play.
In the fourth, Bayside outscored the Tigers 19-4 to win by 42 points.
