Mr. William Sam Griffin Jr., 84, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, in a local nursing facility. He was a native of Skinnerton, Ala., and had been a resident of Brewton for 24 years, coming from Evergreen. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a jet engine tester for a number of years. He was a former member of Woodmen of the World and attended New Haven Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by a son, William Rodney Griffin.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Griffin of Brewton; two grandchildren, Charles Andrew (Charlene) Griffin of Red Level, and Tammie Griffin (Joseph) Harrell of Andalusia; two great-grandchildren, Drew Griffin and Hannah Griffin.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Craver’s Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Steadman officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Hill Cemetery with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.
