A third quarter run for B.C. Rain Friday night in East Brewton helped keep the W.S. Neal varsity Eagle basketball team winless in the area after a 64-43 loss.
The loss dropped the Eagles to 0-3 in the area standings and to 10-7 overall with their third straight loss.
Trailing 20-12 at the end of the first quarter following an 11-0 run for B.C. Rain after W.S. Neal led 6-4, the Eagles trailed 30-23 at halftime after outscoring the Red Raiders 11-10 in the second quarter.
W.S. Neal cut the B.C. Rain led to 32-28 with 5:29 left in the third quarter following a two-point basket by Bob Elliott. From that time on, B.C. Rain used a 12-0 run to end the quarter. The Raiders held the Eagles to only five points while scoring 14 to hold a 44-28 lead at the end of three complete quarters of play.
The run for B.C. Rain was extended to 14-0 in the fourth quarter before W.S. Neal was able to end it, but was outscored 20-15 as B.C. Rain claimed the 21-point win over the Eagles.
Eagle head coach Chuck Phillips declined comment after the game.
Sam Ewing led the Eagles in the loss with 16 points and Elliott added 10 points.
Ashton Elliott had seven points in the game. Colby McCorvey chipped in four points in the loss along with Rashad Crook. Jeremy Nicholson had two points for the Eagles.
The Eagles had three technical fouls called against them in the loss and shot 5-for-12 from the free throw line in the loss.  B.C. Rain was 14-of-28 in the area win.
W.S. Neal  will be back in action Friday in Mobile when they take on the UMS-Wright Bulldogs in another area game.

With the game tied at 20-20 at the half, W.S. Neal outscored the Chiefs of Northview 32-19 in the second half to end their three-game losing streak with a 13-point win Tuesday night.
The win improved the Eagles to 11-7 overall.
Elliott led W.S. Neal with 15 points in the game. Crook and Ewing both had 10 points in the Eagle win.
