Eagles sweep|Eagles keep TRM winless with 55-38 win

In the final game of the season between the T.R. Miller Tigers and the W.S. Neal Eagles Tuesday night in Brewton, the Eagles defeated the Tigers 55-38.
The win for the Eagles improved them to 12-7 overall this season with a season sweep over the Tigers while T.R. Miller remained winless and fell to 0-13.
W.S. Neal led the whole game and led 11-6 after the first quarter and 22-12 at the half after taking the second quarter by a score of 11-6.
In the third quarter, W.S. Neal extended their lead by three points with a 16-13 advantage to hold a 38-25 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, the Eagles outscored the Tigers 17-13 to earn the 17-point win.
T.R. Miller Tiger head coach Marc Edge thought his team played better Tuesday night against the Eagles than the last time the two teams faced off in the Escambia County Tournament in Flomaton—a game in which W.S. Neal won 87-44.
W.S. Neal used a 10-0 run over the first and second quarter to take a 20-6 lead with 4:05 left in the second quarter after holding a 10-6 lead with 2:34 left in the first quarter.
The Tigers cut the lead to 10 points twice in the quarter and trailed by 10 at the half before trailing by as much as 13 points in the third quarter.
Trailing by 13, T.R. Miller used a 10-0 run to cut the lead to five points with 3:05 left in the third quarter, but the Eagles ended with a 7-0 run to take a 13-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
A 6-0 run for the Eagles in the fourth quarter helped lead them to a four-point advantage and take the win.
Bob Elliott led W.S. Neal with 15 points and Jeremy Nicholson added 11 points.
Sam Ewing and Rashad Crook both had seven points in the win for W.S. Neal and Tra Dixon and Monterrius Culliver had four points.
T.J. Davis added three points and Jeremy Alexander and Colby McCorvey both had two points.
For T.R. Miller, Derrick Riley led with 15 points and Keenan Pride had six points.
Antonio Payne and Terez Lane both had five points each in the loss and Kameron Winn added three points.
Wes Dickey and Walter Smith had two points in the loss for the Tigers.
T.R. Miller shot 6-of-17 from the free throw line in the contest that saw a squirrel make its presence known and run around inside the gym, while the Eagles were 6-of-20, but was able to get the win.
T.R. Miller was set to take on Bayside Academy Friday in Daphne and will be back in action next Friday, Jan. 22, at home against Cottage Hill at 4:30 p.m.
W.S. Neal was set to take on UMS-Wright on Friday in Mobile and will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Jackson for a 4 p.m. tip with the Aggies.
