Lady Tigers roll

Just enjoying the game and having fun is the way T.R. Miller Lady Tiger head coach Ron Jackson described his team’s 55-13 win over the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles Tuesday night at home in Brewton.
His team used a 29-0 run over the second and third quarters and held the Lady Eagles of East Brewton to only 13 points the entire game, just two points shy of what his team scored in a tight first quarter.
In the game Tuesday, T.R. Miller jumped out to a 2-0 lead after both teams failed to score in the first 2:33 of the game.
W.S. Neal’s Frieda Folmar gave the Lady Eagles a 3-2 lead after a 3-pointer with 4:44 left to play on to see T.R. Miller go on top and lead 6-3 and 11-5 at the end of the quarter after W.S. Neal cut the lead to 6-5 with 1:53 left in the first quarter.
T.R. Miller grabbed a 15-5 lead with 6:31 left in the first half and after W.S. Neal cut the lead to 15-8 behind a Keyvonnia Kyles 3-pointer with 6:12 left, held W.S. Neal scoreless for the next 13:16 of the game.
During that span, the Lady Tigers went on a 29-0 run through the second and third quarters to turn a seven-point lead and a 32-8 halftime lead into a 44-8 lead with 1:54 left to play in the third quarter.
Briana Hawthorne ended the Lady Tigers run with 55.5 seconds left to play in the third quarter for the Lady Eagles lone basket in the quarter as T.R. Miller led 44-10 heading into the fourth quarter of play.
T.R. Miller would go on and outscore W.S. Neal 11-3 in the final quarter to seal the win with a 42-point victory.
T.R. Miller outscored W.S. Neal 11-5 in the first quarter and 21-3 in the second quarter. In the third quarter, T.R. Miller held a 12-2 advantage and held an eight-point advantage in the fourth quarter.
T.R. Miller was 5-of-11 from the free throw line in the win and W.S. Neal was 1-for-2.
Nakiya Smith led the Lady Tigers in the win with 16 points and was joined in double figures by Keydra Shedrone who finished with 14 points.
Leah Brundidge added nine points in the win for the Lady Tigers and Shay Kiser chipped in five points.
Diamond Middleton had three points and Elizabeth Reed, Courtney Jones, Brittany Rush, and LaTeysia Montgomery all had two points each.
For W.S. Neal, Hawthorne had four points to lead the Lady Eagles and Folmar and Kyles had three points each.
LaTeesha Day added one point and Gleneshia Butler had one point in the loss for W.S. Neal.
W.S. Neal Lady Eagle head coach Derek Roberts declined comment after the game.
T.R. Miller was set to take on Bayside Academy Friday in Daphne and will be back in action next Friday, Jan. 22, at home against Cottage Hill at 4:30 p.m.
W.S. Neal was set to take on UMS-Wright on Friday in Mobile and will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Jackson for a 4 p.m. tip with the Aggies.
