Mr. Letcher Russell Black, 69, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010. He was a native of Fidelis, Fla. He was a graduate of T.R. Miller High School and played baseball with several minor league teams, and while he served in the U.S. Army. He was employed at Monsanto and completed 32 years of service. He was a member of Rays Chapel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Shirley Black of McDavid; two sons, Eric (Kristi) Black of Cantonment, Fla., and Russ Black of McDavid; a daughter, Amy Black (Wendall Cooley) of Chumuckla, Fla.; six grandchildren; a brother, Merle Black of Columbus, Miss.; and a sister, Deloris Trehern of Milton, Fla.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 15, at 11 a.m. at Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Nathan Brown, the Rev. Brian Calhoun and the Rev. James Black officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery with Petty Funeral Home directing.
