Three separate incidents — including a brief chase on U.S. 31 and Kirkland Road — led to the arrest of four people on drug charges last week, Brewton Police said.
Sgt. Bryan Davis, commander of the BPD Narcotics Division, said the arrests came over the course of two days.
Autumn English of Monroeville was arrested Jan. 12 after allegedly selling prescription medications to an undercover officer, Davis said.
English was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful distribution of a controlled substance. She is being held at the Escambia County jail on a $100,000 bond.
In a pair of Jan. 13 arrests, officers with the Narcotics Division conducted an investigation into illegal drug activity at Colonial Manor Motel on South Boulevard, Davis said.
Wesley Harris and Kevin Hendrieth, both of Brewton, were arrested after the investigation began about 1:30 p.m. that day.
Davis said Harris was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of controlled substance, crack cocaine. Harris was booked into the Escambia County Detention Center. After posting a $5,000 bond, Harris was released.
Hendrieth was charged with possession of controlled substance — crack cocaine, first degree possession of marijuana and conspiracy to commit distribution of a controlled substance. He is being held in the Escambia County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
In another arrest Jan. 13, Brewton Narcotics Division officers got a little help from their friends at the 21st Judicial Drug Task Force in the arrest of Heath Hudson of Evergreen, Davis said.
Davis said Hudson was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of controlled substance-Oxycontin, possession of drug paraphernalia, attempting to elude law enforcement officers and resisting arrest.
Hudson was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center where he is being held on a $5,000 bond.
Davis said the arrests confirm the growing problem with prescription drug crimes.
Davis said assistance from DTF officers is invaluable in the fight against drugs in Brewton.
